Program Information

Our mission is to provide children the opportunity to create, produce, and be a part of a theater experience that nurtures, develops, and stimulates young minds. By teaching acting, voice, dance, stage management, and more, our students will understand all aspects of creating a Broadway-style musical. After almost 7-months of skill-building in voice, movement, and scene work, these young actors will present a final performance for friends, family, and the community.

For the performance this year, we will have "auditions" for all the children interested in auditioning for a main part in Shrek The Musical Jr. More information about the audition process will be available as the season gets started.

***On-line Registration is required prior to attending Audition Night.

These auditions will take place on October 9, 2018 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the Parkville Rec Center classroom (Hiss Avenue side - 2nd Floor). Call backs are scheduled for October 10, 2018 (same location). On the day of auditions, students may come any time between 6:00 and 8:00pm. When they arrive, they will sign in. Students will be called in small groups based off of the order in which they arrived. During the first week(s) of classes they will receive an audition packet as well as a CD with the pieces of the songs to practice at home. In the audition packet will be the lyrics as well as small scenes or
monologue to have prepared. The primary Cast List will be emailed to the primary email on the audition packet by October 12, 2018. Your child does NOT have to audition if they wish to ONLY remain in the ensemble/chorus pertaining to the class they are registered for. As we get further into the season, Character role practices will take place on Tuesday & Wednesday evening from 7:40 - 8:40pm.

Classes will begin September 11-12, 2018

The performance is scheduled for TBD and times will be available soon!

Our 2019 Production will be Shrek The Musical Jr.

Everyone's favorite ogre is back in this hilarious stage spectacle, based on the Oscar-winning smash hit film and outrageous Broadway musical. Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
