U6 – Mini Kickers

The U6 Mini Kickers is the first stage of Naugatuck Youth Soccer. In this age group, players get to learn the basic fundamentals of soccer; dribbling, passing, and ball control. Teams are co-ed where boys and girls are playing together. There is no score keeping at this age level as we try to teach players and parents fair play and that winning is not the main focus; fun and enjoyment are. We teach team building skills as this is the first time children will be involved in a team atmosphere. At this age level, positive social interaction is encouraged at practices and games throughout the season which each player will build upon as they grow in NYS.

We have one practice a week and games are on Saturday mornings. We offer a foot-skills program designated for the 5/6 age level where we teach additional skills to help each player move forward with their learning. Foot-skills take place before games on Saturday mornings.

U7 & U8 – Junior Kickers

In this age group we stress the development of skills, positioning, fair play and fun! Some different things will be introduced to a new U7 / U8 player. They will have referees on the field with them, bigger goals and goalkeepers. The field is larger and we play 6v6 (5 field players and a goalie). We will practice once a week and games will be played on Saturday mornings.

Most importantly, be supportive of both teams. At all times coaches, players and parents are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Enjoy your time in 7/8 soccer!

U9 & U10 – Senior Kickers

The purpose of the In-House Program in Naugatuck is to promote and develop the game of soccer as described in this In-House Guideline. We will provide our young people the opportunity to learn, develop and refine their soccer skills and have fun while doing so.

Because we are dealing with a child's self-confidence, self-esteem, and development as a player, it is important to never be critical, harsh or discouraging of the child's performance during a game or on a practice field.

Winning is not a priority in the In-House program, our focus is safety, equal participation and fun.The U9 & U10 Senior Kicker division is the last step in the In-House Program before the Travel Program begins. We play 7v7 (6 field players and a goalie) at this division. The field is a little larger than that of the U7 & U8 Junior Kicker division.

U9 Pool Group

The mission of this program is to provide additional training to those players with the desire and commitment to become better players. This is not to be used to create all-star or select teams and not to provide an atmosphere of superiority or exclusiveness for certain players. NYS will also err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting the overall experience for the majority of the players and not be swayed by any special interests. Players attend the Friday night Foot-Skills sessions during the season and attend a 30 minute practice with other Pool players immediately afterward (as run by the Pool coach). Players may participate in a single day U9 tournament at the discretion of NYS board.

U10 Pool - Fall Mission

This program is to provide additional training to those players with the desire and commitment to become better players. Not to provide an atmosphere of superiority or exclusiveness for certain players based on anything other than that. NYS will also err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting the overall experience for the majority of the pool and not be swayed by any special interests. Players must attend the Friday night Foot-Skills sessions during the season and attend a 30 minute practice with other Pool players immediately afterward (as run by the Pool coach). Players are eligible for the NYS SPIN tournament over Labor Day weekend and several games against other U10 teams in the state.

U10 Pool - Spring Mission

This program is to provide training in preparation for competitive play next season for those players that have shown the desire and commitment to become better players over the last 3 seasons. Players must attend the Friday night Foot-Skills sessions during the season and attend a 30 minute practice with other Pool players immediately afterward (as run by the Pool coach). At this point the Pool Group is more like a travel team although the 50% play rule is still in effect. If players did not participate in the Fall U10 Pool, they must earn their way in to the U10 Spring Pool Group. Players are eligible to play in travel games against other U10 teams in the state.
